💡 About this Casual / Part Time Role
We’re seeking a Software Engineer (minimum 8 hrs/week, paid) to collaborate on Automation, AI and Workflow initiatives using N8N. You’ll contribute directly to real-world projects while gaining mentorship from engineers and AI specialists. This is a Casual / Part Time role with an opportunity for Full Time employment for the right team members.

Key areas include:

• Workflow Development
  – Design, build, and deploy N8N workflows to automate client processes
  – Write and maintain custom JavaScript/TypeScript functions and JSON configurations
  – Integrate APIs (REST, GraphQL) with N8N to enable data synchronisation and task orchestration

• AI & Automation Implementation
  – Collaborate on AI agent prototypes (e.g., using OpenAI, Hugging Face) and embed them into workflows
  – Implement logic for data parsing, transformation and routing within N8N
  – Assist in testing and optimising automation scripts for performance and reliability

• Project Collaboration & Support
  – Work alongside our leadership to troubleshoot and debug workflow issues
  – Document technical implementations: code snippets, JSON schema definitions and process flows
  – Provide support for deploying solutions to cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure and DigitalOcean)

🎯 Who We’re Looking For

• Background: University student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in JavaScript (ES6+); familiarity with TypeScript is a plus

  • Strong understanding of JSON (schema design, validation, parsing)

  • Experience or interest in N8N (workflow creation, node configuration)

  • Comfortable working with RESTful APIs and basic authentication methods (OAuth, API keys)

  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git/GitHub) and collaboration workflows

• Bonus Skills:

  • Exposure to Node.js and package management (npm/yarn)

  • Basic knowledge of containerisation concepts such as Docker

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)

  • Previous experience with AI/ML integrations (OpenAI API, machine-learning SDKs)

• Soft Skills & Attitude:

  • Eagerness to learn and iterate quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently but collaborate effectively under senior mentorship

  • Clear communication skills, documenting code and discussing technical decisions
