MAPPED: from AI ideas to working agents
MAPPED is Advancer's six-stage framework for mapping, building and scaling AI agents: Map, Assess, Plan, Prepare, Experiment, Deploy. It starts with a facilitated mapping session where your team walks out with three real agents mapped, scored and ready to scope, and a clear view of which one to build first.
What are the six stages of MAPPED?
MAPPED is how Advancer takes an AI agent from idea to live: Map, Assess, Plan, Prepare, Experiment, Deploy. The mapping session works through the first three stages with your team. The build stages happen with Advancer at your side.
Why map agents before you build them?
Because not every task should be an agent. An agent does a job: it watches for a trigger, follows clear rules, knows when it is unsure and leaves a record of what it did. A tool waits to be used. Most failed agent projects picked the wrong work to automate, and mapping first is how you avoid that.
MAPPED separates the work that suits an agent from the work that should stay with a person, then scores every opportunity on value and feasibility so you build in the right order. It is the same framework Advancer uses on every agent we put into production.
AI agents mapped
Real AI opportunities from your business, scoped against a proven framework. Not generic examples.
A clear first build
Every agent is scored, so you know which one to build first and why. Some get queued. Some get parked. That honesty is the point.
A shared language
Your team leaves speaking the same way about where AI fits and where it does not. That alignment outlasts the session.
What happens in a MAPPED mapping session?
A facilitated working session, not a lecture. We map your work, with the people who actually do it in the room, through the first three MAPPED stages.
Map
We walk your real processes end to end and find where the work gets stuck. The bottleneck is almost always where your first agent lives.
Assess
We define the outcome each agent should deliver and score every opportunity on value and feasibility, producing a clear build, queue or park decision.
Plan
We redesign the workflow with the agent in it and decide what stays human, so the agent fits how your team actually works.
Why is Advancer the team to map your agents?
We build what we map
MAPPED isn't a consultant's whiteboard theory. It's distilled from the agents Advancer designs, builds and runs in production for Australian businesses every week, from Voice AI handling thousands of calls to operations agents across CRM, finance and logistics.
Honest go and no-go calls
Part of the session is learning what not to automate. If an opportunity scores low, we tell you to park it. That discipline is why our agents make it to production instead of dying as demos.
Mapped straight into delivery
Your mapped agents flow directly into the Prepare, Experiment and Deploy stages: operating rules, a safe pilot and measured rollout, with Advancer's build team behind every step.
A working agent, built on the day: Early Learning Organisation
A live mapping session with the senior leadership team, working through Map, Assess and Plan in a single working session, and finishing with a real agent already running.
What we did
Walked real business workflows end to end with the team and pinpointed exactly where each one gets stuck.
Scored all opportunities on value, feasibility and build size, and identified the clear build-first candidate.
Redesigned the workflow with the agent in place, before and after, mapped step by step.
What they walked away with
Real opportunities from their own business, ranked, with a clear call on whether each one could be built in-house or needed external help.
The whole team now talks about where AI fits, and where it does not, using the same shared language.
One clearly scoped opportunity, a nightly alarm compliance agent, built and operational on the day of the workshop.
MAPPED questions, answered straight
MAPPED is Advancer's six-stage framework for taking an AI agent from idea to live: Map, Assess, Plan, Prepare, Experiment, Deploy. It covers finding the right work to automate, scoring it, redesigning the workflow, setting operating rules, piloting safely and scaling what works.
The people who actually do the work, plus one decision-maker. The session maps your real processes, so the value comes from having the people who live those processes every day, not just the leadership team.
No. The session starts by grounding everyone in what an agent actually is and what separates work that suits an agent from work that should stay with a person. No technical background is needed to contribute fully.
You leave with three agents mapped, scored and prioritised. From there, most clients move their first agent into the build stages: Prepare sets the operating rules, Experiment pressure-tests it in a small pilot, and Deploy measures the saving and rolls it out. Advancer delivers those stages with you, and there is no obligation to continue after the session.
Then the session has saved you a failed project, and we will say so plainly. Every opportunity gets an honest go, queue or park call. In practice most businesses discover at least one high-value, highly feasible agent, usually sitting at the bottleneck everyone already groans about.
AI consulting covers your whole business: strategy, readiness and roadmaps. MAPPED is sharper: a working session focused specifically on agents, producing three mapped, scored opportunities and a clear first build. Many clients do both, with MAPPED as the fastest way to get moving.
